emmilco/us-tax-model

US federal income tax forms and instructions as cited, executable, machine-checkable data.

A proof-of-concept encoding of US federal individual income tax forms and instructions as citable, machine-checkable YAML data. A guided interview computes your taxes locally using exact integer arithmetic, explaining each line with IRS citations. It never files or transmits anything; it encodes IRS published procedure, with build-time checks and a partial Lean formalization.

Why now: Recently shown on Hacker News as a Show HN project, notable for being largely written by language-model agents yet designed to be verifiable by distrusting readers, with per-line citations and a build checker.

Who it is for: Developers and tax-curious self-filers interested in verifiable, transparent encodings of IRS procedure.
