Simple, fast, versioned large-file storage for git 🚀 https://getgat.dev
Gat is a Rust CLI that versions large files with Git by storing them in object stores like S3, Azure Blob, GCS, or plain directories. Unlike git-lfs it needs no special server and avoids clean/smudge filters; instead a gat.lock file plus git hooks keep the working tree in sync via 'gat sync' after checkout, merge, pull, and rebase. Git workflows (commit, push, pull, clone) otherwise stay unchanged.
Why now: It was featured in a Show HN post ('Version large files with Git, without an LFS server'), where it's being discussed as a simpler alternative to git-lfs and dvc.
Who it is for: Developers and ML teams who need to version large files (models, assets, datasets) in Git repos without running an LFS server.
