Haiku native PowerPC and Hobbit BeBox Emulator
BeBox is a Haiku-native emulator of Be Inc.'s BeBox, the dual-CPU machine BeOS originally ran on. Written in C++, it emulates both PowerPC BeBox models and the earlier dual-AT&T-Hobbit prototypes, booting from original ROMs. It emulates CPUs, boot ROM/NVRAM, video, sound, SCSI/IDE storage, serial ports, NAT'd Ethernet, and shared folders, complete with the iconic front-panel blinkenlights.
Why now: It's a newly released, remarkably complete emulator that revives rare 1990s hardware — including the pre-PowerPC Hobbit prototypes — letting people actually run historic BeOS releases today, which is drawing attention on Hacker News.
Who it is for: Retro-computing and BeOS enthusiasts who want to run classic BeOS (or see the Hobbit prototypes) on modern Haiku systems.
