An open-source, clean-room reimplementation of Avid Pro Tools in pure Rust
SoundCraft is a free, open-source digital audio workstation written entirely in Rust, aiming to be a clean-room reimplementation of Avid Pro Tools. It supports multitrack recording, editing, a full mixer with plugins and automation, MIDI with built-in synths, and runs on macOS, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and the browser. Every action can be scripted from the CLI or driven by AI agents. It's currently pre-alpha.
Why now: It's rapidly gaining stars as a new repo on GitHub's trending list, notable for its ambitious goal of rebuilding Pro Tools in Rust plus its AI-agent scriptability.
Who it is for: Audio engineers and producers who know the Pro Tools workflow, plus Rust developers and AI-agent enthusiasts interested in scriptable DAWs.
