The Nuremberg Symphoniker are performing a programme combining Sergej Rachmaninoff's 'Der Fels' op. 7, Anders Hillborg's Cello Concerto and Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3 in A minor, the 'Scottish'. Jonathan Darlington conducts, with Canadian cellist Ariel Barnes as soloist in the Hillborg work. Classical music listeners are sharing the concert line-up, drawn to the unusual pairing of the contemporary Swedish concerto with two Romantic-era staples.
