Chieti

Cardinal Mauro Gambetti has been welcomed to the Chieti-Vasto archdiocese in Abruzzo, Italy, succeeding Monsignor Bruno Forte. The Conference of Italian Religious Major Superiors (CEAM) publicly thanked Monsignor Forte for his service and greeted the incoming Cardinal. The change of leadership in the central Italian diocese is drawing attention among Italian Catholic communities.

Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, appointed to lead St. Peter's Basilica by Pope Francis, is leaving his Vatican post under Pope Leo XIV and has been named Archbishop of Chieti. The move is part of the new pontiff's reshaping of the Roman Curia, and Italian media are highlighting the departure of a prelate closely associated with Bergoglio's reign.
