Spain's early general election call is drawing divided reactions from local leaders. The mayor of Elche welcomed the advance to the polls, saying the political tension had been unnecessarily strained, while Plasencia's mayor called it absolutely necessary. In Elche, PP and Vox argue the elections are needed to change the national government, while PSOE and Compromís back them to continue progressive policies. Alicante's mayor Luis Barcala is also being searched amid the campaign chatter.
