Diocese

The Catholic Diocese of Bentiu in South Sudan has called for an investigation after a fire damaged the altar of a parish church. Church leaders are seeking answers about the cause of the blaze, which struck a key place of worship in the region. The incident has drawn attention amid concerns over church safety and property in the country.

A Catholic diocese is considering putting three of its churches up for sale after concluding the buildings are underused. The possible sale would shrink the diocese's footprint and could see the properties repurposed or demolished. Further details, including which parishes are affected and what would happen to their congregations, have not been made clear.
