A new project called ESP-SDR demonstrates raw IQ signal capture using Espressif's ESP32 chips, turning the inexpensive Wi-Fi microcontrollers into basic software-defined radio receivers. The developer, known as Jeija, has published documentation and source materials through the Espargos project. The approach exploits the chips' wireless hardware in an unconventional way, drawing attention from the maker and radio hobbyist communities interested in low-cost SDR experiments.
