Flamingo

An expert has commented on reports that Ukraine's Flamingo cruise missile project is being curtailed, saying the missile had become an easy target for enemy air defences. The long-range weapon, touted as a key Ukrainian strike capability, is now facing questions over its effectiveness, and discussion in Russian- and Ukrainian-language outlets is focused on what the slowdown means for Kyiv's strike plans.

Ukrainian defense company Fire Point is making headlines on several fronts. Denmark has agreed to guarantee a $113 million loan to help build a rocket fuel plant for the firm. President Zelenskyy said the company's FP-9 ballistic missile, capable of reaching Moscow, will be ready this autumn. Meanwhile, Fire Point's CEO walked back remarks about the 'Flamingo' missile that caused a scandal, and analysts say Russia cannot protect all its strategic sites once Ukraine's ballistic missiles enter service.

Russian military monitors are reporting that Ukrainian Flamingo cruise missiles flew over Lipetsk region. The Flamingo is a long-range cruise missile recently developed in Ukraine, and flights deep into Russian territory draw attention to its reach. No official confirmation from Russian or Ukrainian authorities has been reported so far.
