Gladiators

Tech enthusiasts are mounting swords on humanoid robots and staging combat matches, calling the spectacle 'democratizing MMA.' The fights pair robotics firms and hobbyists in gladiator-style contests that blend engineering demos with fight-club entertainment. Critics online are mocking the framing, while supporters present it as a way to test robot balance, control and durability under contact. Either way, armed robot fighting is drawing attention as both a stunt and a showcase for the state of robotics.
