Japanese chip venture Rapidus will help 17 companies design semiconductors on behalf of their clients, according to a Nikkei report. The move would expand the startup's role beyond manufacturing into chip design services, broadening its support for customers as Japan seeks to rebuild a domestic advanced chip industry and compete with global foundries.
