Inca Empire

A wave of new radiocarbon dates is prompting archaeologists to revise the timeline of the Inca Empire, suggesting key events in its rise unfolded differently than long believed. Science reports that the reworked chronology could reshape how scholars understand how quickly the Inca expanded across the Andes before the Spanish conquest.

The Royal Hunt of the Sun, a 1969 historical adventure film, is being highlighted for its dramatization of the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. The film, based on the confrontation between conquistadors and the Inca ruler Atahualpa, is being shared with audiences interested in cinema, history and the colonial-era encounter between Spaniards and indigenous civilizations in South America.
