Israel settlements

Thousands of people have protested across the Netherlands, demanding tougher government action against Israel following a new ban on goods made in illegal Israeli settlements. Demonstrators called for a ceasefire and stronger measures in support of Palestinians, echoing wider European protests over the Gaza war and the perceived inadequacy of official responses to settlement trade.

A side event is being held at the 63rd Session of the UN Human Rights Council under the title 'Beyond Settlement Goods: Third-State and Corporate Responsibilities in Relation to Israel's Unlawful Occupation'. It is organised by the Independent Commission for Human Rights and Law for Palestine (UK), and focuses on the legal duties of states and companies regarding Israel's occupation, beyond consumer boycotts of settlement products.
