The Israel Defense Forces say they have killed a jihadist militant accused of dragging an Israeli captive through the streets of Gaza on a bicycle during the October 7 attacks. The strike is being widely reported and discussed as one of the most emblematic cases tied to the hostage-taking, drawing strong reactions over accountability for those involved in abusing captives.

Israeli strikes in Gaza killed seven people, among them a woman, according to reports. The Israel Defense Forces said the strikes targeted a Hamas militant. The operation adds to ongoing tensions in the region, with casualty figures and the circumstances of the strike drawing attention as the conflict continues.

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has canceled a planned visit to the United States, citing the sensitive security situation and the need to maintain heightened military readiness. The move is drawing attention amid already elevated tensions in the region, with observers reading the cancellation as a sign that Israeli commanders want senior leadership at home while the army stays on alert.
