German commentator Josef Joffe has accused the left-wing party Die Linke of applying double standards over the Gaza war. He argues that of roughly 100 armed conflicts worldwide, only Israel is accused of genocide, creating the impression that its conduct of war is the worst in the world. The claim has reignited debate in Germany about where criticism of Israeli policy ends and demonization of the country begins.
