Joseph Horowitz

Author Joseph Horowitz gives an interview about Anton Seidl, the nineteenth-century conductor, and what he sees as the lost promise of American classical music. He discusses Seidl's role in American musical life and argues that a distinctive national classical tradition failed to take root, drawing on themes from his recent writing.
