Karaj

Iranian authorities have demolished a watchtower at Gohardasht Prison in Karaj, a facility long associated with the detention and execution of political prisoners. Critics, including opposition and human rights groups, say the destruction could destroy physical evidence of abuses committed there, including the 1988 mass executions of prisoners. They are calling for the site to be preserved and independently examined.
