Micro Center is requiring customers to show photo ID and sign a declaration promising that Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards will stay installed in the US, disclosing where the GPU will be used. The move reflects strict export controls on high-end Nvidia chips, and buyers are being made to promise not to resell or ship cards abroad. The policy is drawing attention as one of the most visible retail impacts of US export restrictions on advanced AI-capable hardware.
