Ninth House

Protesters camped at Madrid's Sol square have marched to the gates of Congress ahead of parliamentary debate, demanding the right to housing. Demonstrations are planned for 3 and 4 October in cities across Spain, with more than 1,500 people rallying in Logroño and an encampment continuing in Zaragoza. Separately, clashes broke out in Barcelona during the ninth anniversary of the 1 October referendum, with burned containers near police headquarters. Tension is high in Madrid amid fears the Congress could be surrounded.
