Russia has warned NATO that it could respond with nuclear weapons if its exclave of Kaliningrad were cut off from the rest of the country. The warning, reported by Al Jazeera, comes amid rising tensions between Moscow and the alliance over the Baltic region. Kaliningrad, sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania, is heavily militarised, and any blockade of its land links would be seen by the Kremlin as a major escalation.
