Route 38

Dutch coastguard rescued 38 migrants, including six unaccompanied minors, from a boat off the Dutch coast, according to NL Times. One adult has applied for asylum. The incident highlights the continuing arrival of small boats carrying migrants along North Sea shipping routes, with questions expected over how the vessel reached Dutch waters and what will happen to the others on board.

Dutch officials intercepted 38 migrants off the Netherlands' coast, an operation described as rare for the country. The Netherlands seldom sees migrant boat arrivals at sea, unlike Mediterranean routes, making the interception unusual and drawing attention to shifting migration routes toward northern Europe. Authorities have not detailed the migrants' origins or what will happen to them.
