Researchers at Japan's RIKEN Pioneering Research Institute and the Institute of Science Tokyo have developed an experimental technique that tricks cancer cells into producing a toxin that kills them from within. In laboratory tests, cancer cells were destroyed while normal cells were left unharmed. The approach is still early-stage, but it is drawing attention for its potential to target tumours selectively without damaging healthy tissue.
