Sheikh Hasina

Attention is turning to India's awkward position regarding Bangladesh's ousted leader Sheikh Hasina, who has taken refuge in India since her government collapsed. New Delhi faces pressure over sheltering a leader whose rule ended amid mass protests, and the dilemma touches on India's regional influence, its relationship with Bangladesh's interim authorities, and questions over possible extradition.

Attention is on what Washington has told New Delhi regarding the possible return of Sheikh Hasina to Bangladesh, and equally on what it has left unsaid. Bangladeshi and Indian audiences are weighing American statements for signs of diplomatic pressure, as the extradition question tests ties between the US, India and Bangladesh's interim government.

Bangladesh's ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina has lodged a complaint in Geneva, drawing significant attention across international politics. The development has stirred debate among observers of Bangladeshi affairs and human rights watchers, with discussion focusing on what the complaint means for her political standing and for Bangladesh's relations abroad.
