Paramount+ has released a surprise Short Trek tied to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, titled "Science Fiction." In the short, the Enterprise crew explores an uncharted planet, discovers the ruins of an alien city, and a mysterious disease strikes the away team, forcing Spock to decipher alien texts in a race to find a cure. Fans are sharing the surprise drop and discussing the story's plot details.

Space enthusiasts are marking World Space Week online, sharing the Star Trek-inspired motto 'Ad Astra per Aspera' — through hardship to the stars — alongside tributes to Sputnik, whose 1957 launch opened the space age. The observance runs annually from October 4 to 10, deliberately chosen to bracket the Sputnik anniversary, and this year's posts blend nostalgia for the first satellite with general celebration of space exploration.
