The Justice Department's Civil Rights Division has lost roughly 300 career lawyers while hastily hiring around 130 new staff, some of whom critics describe as having criminal records, minimal experience, or records of hyperpartisan statements. Among the top hires cited is gun rights activist B. Arrington, an opponent of civil rights enforcement, fueling concern about the division's future direction.
