The listing formally acknowledges the food centres and their stallholders as a living tradition central to Singaporean identity, and officials are celebrating it as a proud milestone for the country.

UNESCO and partner organisations have launched a new literacy programme in Aroma, in Sudan's Kassala state, aimed at expanding learning opportunities in the area. The initiative seeks to improve access to education and basic literacy skills for local communities, though further details on funding, beneficiaries and implementation partners have not yet been made public.
