Westeros

Warner Bros is developing a Game of Thrones movie centred on Aegon's Conquest, the Targaryen invasion of Westeros, with a theatrical release planned for 2029. The announcement has drawn attention as the franchise's first feature film, extending the universe beyond House of the Dragon and fuelling discussion among fans about casting, scope and how the conquest will be adapted.

A new column questions whether the Game of Thrones audience will return for 'Aegon's Conquest', a proposed prequel centred on Aegon Targaryen's conquest of Westeros. The piece reflects broader uncertainty about the franchise's drawing power after mixed reactions to recent spin-offs, and asks whether another Targaryen-era series can reignite fan interest.
