Semiconductor manufacturer X-FAB has started construction on a new cleanroom facility in Erfurt, Germany, funded through the European Chips Act. The project marks a step in Europe's push to expand domestic chip production capacity and reduce reliance on Asian and American supply chains, with the Erfurt site playing a role in strengthening the region's semiconductor manufacturing base.
