Researchers, working with Italy's National Institute for Nuclear Physics, have applied theoretical physics methods to uncover the molecular mechanisms of extra-chromosomal DNA in tumours. These DNA fragments exist outside normal chromosomes and are known to drive cancer growth and drug resistance. The study suggests physics-based modelling can reveal how such DNA behaves, opening new paths for understanding and potentially treating aggressive cancers.
