stick insects

Researchers report they have resolved a decades-old mystery surrounding stick insects, according to a new study covered by SciTechDaily. Details of the finding, the species involved and the methods used have not yet been made fully clear, but the announcement is drawing attention from biology enthusiasts and science news readers.

Scientists have described a giant stick insect that went misidentified or overlooked for decades, according to new research. The species had apparently been hiding in plain sight, mistaken for related insects until closer examination revealed it was distinct. The find highlights how little is still known about insect biodiversity, even among large species.
