Dutch chipmaking equipment giant ASML says it sold absolutely nothing in Europe in 2026, despite Europe being its home region, and is calling on the EU to help create demand for semiconductor manufacturing. The remark highlights how little chip fabrication capacity exists in Europe compared with Asia and the US, where ASML's lithography machines are in high demand.
