An aquarium has announced the birth of seven African penguin chicks, a species classified as critically endangered in the wild. The arrivals are being celebrated as a boost for conservation breeding programmes, since fewer than 20,000 African penguins are believed to remain in their native South African and Namibian coastal colonies.
