Calgary mayor

A man is dead after a reported shooting outside a trades school in Edmonton, police confirmed. The incident drew attention across Alberta, where coverage of crime and public safety has been prominent. It comes amid wider provincial news, including Calgary's mayor accusing the Alberta government of overreach and calling recent provincial changes a sham and illegal. Local outlets continue to follow both stories.
