Motorsport journalist Chris Medland is starting a new long-running project documenting whether the tailored physical and mental support given to Formula 1 drivers could benefit someone who is not an elite athlete. Writing on his Substack, he says he will follow the question over the coming months, examining how training, recovery and mental preparation methods used in F1 might translate beyond professional sport.

Formula 1 drivers Isack Hadjar, Arvid Lindblad and Franco Colapinto are set to take grid penalties this weekend after exceeding their allocated power unit components. Colapinto also carries a five-place drop for his crash in Baku, while Mercedes has again opted to take new components. The penalties will push all three drivers toward the back of the starting grid.
