Devajit Saikia

Assam Cricket Association and BCCI figures discussed concerns around the Centre of Excellence, with Devajit Saikia stating that VVS Laxman will attend senior selection meetings to prevent miscommunication between selectors and the CoE. The move aims to improve coordination over player selection and management decisions.

Devajit Saikia said VVS Laxman will be included in all meetings of the senior men's selection committee to improve communication between selectors and team management. Saikia, a senior figure in Indian cricket administration, made the remarks as the BCCI restructures how selection decisions are coordinated ahead of upcoming international assignments.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has explained, in an exclusive interview with The Times of India, why VVS Laxman attended a national selection meeting. The board's clarification addresses questions over the former batsman's role, as Laxman serves as head of the NCA and has regularly stepped in with India's coaching setup. Details of Saikia's reasoning were not available beyond the headline.
