Europe's newly launched Sentinel-3C satellite has transmitted its first images of Earth, delivering striking views of the planet's oceans, land and ice. The satellite, part of the EU-backed Copernicus monitoring programme operated with EUMETSAT and ESA, extends the series of Sentinel-3 spacecraft that track sea surface temperatures, ocean colour and sea ice. The early imagery is being welcomed as confirmation the mission's instruments are working well.
