Orange Business has been chosen to provide the European Union's backbone network for trusted data exchange. The deal means the French telecoms group will build and run core infrastructure enabling secure data sharing across EU institutions and member states. The announcement strengthens Orange's position in large-scale public-sector digital projects in Europe.

European telecom operators may be granted additional time to phase out high-risk suppliers from their networks, according to an EU proposal reported by Reuters. The move would loosen the timeline of the bloc's push to remove vendors deemed security risks, such as those covered by 5G toolbox guidance, giving operators breathing room to replace equipment.
