Fire ants

Fire ants, a highly invasive pest, have been detected in Sydney's inner west, according to Nine.com.au. The discovery is significant because the destructive species had previously been largely confined to south-east Queensland, and its spread raises concerns for agriculture, pets and the environment. Authorities are expected to respond with eradication and surveillance efforts.
