Guardian columnist George Monbiot has condemned the treatment of people with myalgic encephalomyelitis, writing that sufferers have been abandoned, dismissed and gaslighted despite changes in medical guidance and growing scientific evidence. He argues that millions of devastated lives have been let down and calls it a social crisis unfolding behind closed doors, saying there is no excuse for the betrayal.
