A new study reports that roughly one in 15 cats is carrying Giardia, an intestinal parasite that causes diarrhea. Researchers note that some Giardia strains can infect humans as well as cats, raising concerns about pet-to-owner transmission. Cat owners are being reminded of the importance of regular vet checks, deworming, and hygiene when cleaning litter boxes to reduce the risk of infection for both animals and people.
