Giga

Franciscan friars at the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi have begun using artificial intelligence, laser scanning and gigapixel cameras to help repair the 13th-century church. The high-resolution technology allows restorers to map and monitor damage to the medieval frescoes and stonework with precision that was previously impossible, blending centuries-old religious custodianship with modern digital conservation methods.
