Green Legacy Initiative

Ethiopia's Green Legacy Initiative is mobilising ordinary citizens to plant trees and take part in large-scale reforestation, effectively turning them into foresters. The programme, launched to combat deforestation and land degradation, continues to draw attention as one of the world's biggest civic tree-planting efforts. Environmental commentators highlight it as an example of how mass public participation can drive climate and restoration goals.
