House Homeland Security Democrats

Representative Bennie Thompson, ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, says the Trump administration is continuing to undermine America's preparedness against terrorism. In a statement, Thompson criticized the administration's handling of national security readiness, arguing that policy decisions are leaving the country more vulnerable to terrorist threats. The remarks come from the top Democrat on the committee charged with overseeing homeland defense, making them part of an ongoing partisan dispute over security priorities.

House Homeland Security Democrats are pressing the Department of Homeland Security for answers over reports that department funds were used to run political ads favouring President Trump ahead of the midterm elections. The lawmakers are demanding details on how the spending was authorised and are raising concerns about the use of taxpayer money for partisan messaging.
