Lochiel

Police have carried out violent arrests at the Lochiel tree sit on the US-Mexico border, and activists report that the last remaining Grandmother Cottonwood tree has been cut down to make way for border wall construction. Censored News journalist Brenda Norrell is covering the protests, where opponents of the wall had occupied trees to block felling. The arrests and the tree's destruction have drawn outrage from border wall opponents and Indigenous supporters.
