Merops orientalis

Asian Green Bee-eaters, small colourful birds found across South and Southeast Asia, are drawing attention for a remarkable feeding behaviour. Before swallowing a bee or wasp whole, the bird repeatedly whacks and rubs the insect against a hard branch or perch. This disarms the prey by removing the venomous stinger and venom sac, letting the bird eat it safely.
