Michigan research council

A Michigan research council says the state should expect legal challenges if a campaign to remove money from politics succeeds. The group argues that restricting political spending would likely be contested in court, given past rulings on campaign finance. The prediction frames the effort as not only a legislative fight but a judicial one.

The Citizens Research Council of Michigan has released an analysis of the Mop Up Michigan initiative, detailing its expected impacts. The nonpartisan public policy research group's assessment is drawing attention in Michigan as residents and policymakers weigh the initiative's implications for the state.
