Munich Migration Meeting

EU interior ministers are gathering in Munich to discuss further tightening of the bloc's migration policy. The summit is being held in the city for the second year in a row and has drawn opposition from both ultra-left and ultra-right activists and politicians, who do not want the meeting to take place, with protests reported around the event.

Partners from 18 European countries are gathering at the Munich Migration Meeting to shape a shared course on migration policy. Three goals are at the centre of discussions: the Common European Asylum System, alongside further joint steps on managing migration across the continent. The meeting, highlighted by the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, comes as EU states continue working through implementation of the bloc's new asylum and migration rules.
