Omega Speedmaster

Apollo 13's mission, initially aiming for a Moon landing, became a fight for survival after an oxygen-tank failure on April 13, 1970. The crew used an Omega Speedmaster watch, relying on a roughly 14-second timing task, to help time critical engine burns that guided the damaged spacecraft safely back to Earth. Space history and watch enthusiasts are revisiting the story, celebrating the timepiece's official NASA qualification and its part in one of the most dramatic rescues in spaceflight.
