Owen Beck

The Montreal Canadiens have assigned defenceman David Reinbacher and centre Owen Beck to the Laval Rocket, the club's AHL affiliate. The demotions, reported by Le Journal de Montréal, mean both prospects will continue their development in the American Hockey League rather than opening the season in Montreal. Fans in Quebec are debating whether the moves are the right call for two of the organization's top young players.

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled promising young centre Owen Beck ahead of their game against the Buffalo Sabres. Beck, who has been playing for the Laval Rocket in the AHL, made his season debut with the Canadiens, but reports suggest the outing did little to change the club's plans for him. Coverage notes Beck has been aiming to force Montreal's hand with strong play in Laval, and head coach Martin St-Louis is looking for ways to spark the team's scoring.
